PROJECT: Inaugural Film Festival poster
When I found out there was going to be a new film festival taking place in North Eastern Pennsylvania, I jumped at the chance to get involved. Being it was the inaugural year, I wanted the art to feel like it was reaching out, breaking the two-dimensional space into the real world to applaud the organizers on bringing the festival to life. To accomplish this, I decided to forego digital design and work with real elements to create a three-dimensional composition. Working with painted strips of 35mm motion picture stock, I created an abstract landscape featuring a blazing sun rising up over green hills. The festival has already created the logo, so to make sure it fit within the composition, I enlisted the help of artist Cole Hastings to 3D print the type. Capped off with the tagline “Something Beautiful is on the Horizon,” the end result showcases the majestic feeling of the N.E.P.A landscape and visualizes the dawn of something truly special for the arts in this area.
