CLIENT: Land of Missing Parts
PROJECT: Festival poster
When director Jon Foy found out his documentary about the mystery of the Toynbee tiles was going to premiere at the Sundance film festival, he knew he needed a striking poster but only had a small window to pull it together. We dropped everything and set out to photograph a handful of the cryptic tiles along with various elements around the Philly streets. To capture the feeling of intrigue one would have when stumbling onto one of these mysterious tiles, we placed one of the most iconic plaques on a realistic street setting. Using a collection of asphalt textures as our background, we finalized the layout by surrounding the eerie inscription with a variety of urban elements. For the title treatment, we created a die cut font out of a solid white traffic line and found an awesome Toynbee font created by Harold Lohner for the subtitle.
